LINCOLN – “Montage: The Femme Fatale Speaks” with Becky Hyberger of Salina, Nicole Thibodeau, Hays, and Shannon Trevethan, Russell, will open at the Lincoln Art Center on Friday November 13 at 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. through December 31.

Becky Hyberger builds miniature constructions, it is a multi faceted process that illuminates transformation. Sometimes her emphasis is on the physical object being created…the miniature. Other times, it is on the idea behind the physical thing…the metaphor. For example; a tin box becomes a suitcase and an open suitcase becomes a journey. From cotter pins to radiators, beads to bottles, earrings to faucets, and nail heads to door knobs: nothing is at it seems. Illusions are created by capturing detail with a sense of scale and a leap of faith. Becky says “Fascination with the creative process are the underpinnings for my work.”

Nicole Thibodeau creates assemblage from found objects, the materials are often found in thrift stores, or discovered flattened in the street. She uses these pieces as puzzle pieces, which form conversations with her works of art. Currently her work is featured at ArtSpace Gallery in Marquette, Kansas.

Shannon Trevethan is the director at the Deines Cultural Center in Russell. She works assemblages from found objects and curiosities. Exploration and experimentation is the forefront of what inspires her. Found objects are an important way for her to communicate her place in the natural world. Shannon says, “Perhaps I am challenging the idea of serious art”.

This exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesday-Friday Noon-4:00 and Saturday 9:00 am to Noon at the Lincoln Art Center, 126 E. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln, Kansas 67455. For more information call the art center at 785-524-3241.
