Bell(e)s on Progress” with Linda Ganstrom of Hays, and “In the Fall of Early Light” with L.H. Sven Johnson of Galva opened at the Lincoln Art Center with a Gallery Open House & Exhibit Opening Reception Friday, March 13, 2020, and will be on display through April 25.

Working in ceramics for nearly four decades, Linda Ganstrom explores issues relating her personal experiences to big picture questions primarily through figurative ceramics. Earning three degrees from Fort Hays University in Hays, Kansas, where she is currently a Professor of Art and Design teaching ceramics. Making, curating, writing, workshops and travel intrigue and connect Linda to the world. Ganstrom has exhibited her work nationwide and participated in over 250 juried exhibitions. Ganstrom says, “I do believe art is for everyone to participate in – viewing, making or interacting.”

Johnson attended the Minneapolis College of Art & Design and received a BA in Art from the University of Iowa. He worked at the Art Institute of Chicago before returning to Kansas to live and work in his studio in Delmore Township. He says, ” Making my work is like solving puzzles, I start with predefined elements, then combine and arrange them into an image. Not knowing what the final outcome will be, I embrace and allow it to guide the creative process.” Johnson has exhibited his work in Chicago, IL. and IN. since 2008.

The Lincoln Art Center would also like to give special recognition to the Post Rock Community Foundation & Dane G. Hansen Foundation for funding the new floor at the Lincoln Art Center and to thank the volunteers that worked on the installation of the new flooring.
