The Lincoln Art Center will feature an exhibit of selected works by David Delker, Salina and David Friday, Russell. The opening reception will be held at the Lincoln Art Center on Friday July 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and run through August 30, 2025.
David Delker says “Precision meets passion in this collection of intricately engineered wood forms every lathe-turned curve is both calculated and expressive”. Artistry Turned Loose explores the tension between control and creativity. Each piece begins with mathematical calculations, but ends in movement, warmth, and unexpected beauty. Though precise wood joinery, woodturning, and surface embellishments, the work invites viewers to see not just the grain of the wood, but the mind behind the method-the engineer-artist letting form, function, and freedom collide on the lathe.
David Friday is a mixed-media artist living in Russell. His work is mostly acrylic and thick textures he creates are made with crushed marble and acrylic medium that dry to a stone-hard and durable surface. Friday went high school in Russell then left to go WSU in Wichita and was gone for 45 years living in Dallas, Denver, San Diego, Austin, and Albuquerque. He returned to Russell to escape chaos of the city. His subjects vary from faces from his imagination to the Kansas landscapes he enjoys every day.
The artists will speak at 6:15 and visit with guests. Refreshments will be served.
The art center is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to noon. For more information call 785-524-3241 or email lincolnartcenter@att.net, visit our Facebook page, or website lincolnartcenter.org.
