The Lincoln Art Center will feature an exhibit of selected works by Ashton Dawley, Hays, Dale Cole, Salina, and Karen Voorhees, Topeka. The opening reception was held at the Lincoln Art Center on Friday, November 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will run through December 31, 2025.
Dawley is a Fine Art major with a concentration in Ceramics at Fort Hays State University.
He has a particular passion for Raku, a traditional Japanese low-firing technique that embraces unpredictability and organic beauty. He is inspired by intricate Art Deco, which celebrates precision, elaborate line work, and bold, sophisticated design.
Dale Cole began taking photos in the mid-1980s during travels on volunteer eye care missions through VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity) around the world. Having been on over 29 missions, he has seen some fascinating parts of the world and enjoys sharing his experiences. His work has been in many venues, including the 5-State Photography Show in Hays Art Council, Best Travel Photo by Kansas City Star, and several juried exhibits.
Karen Voorhees works in oil and has shown her work at various places around Topeka and was one of the artists featured in a Topeka Lifestyle Publication. She has donated several pieces to numerous charities and a significant fund-raising event for a young woman who had a stroke.
The artists will speak at 6:15 p.m. and visit with guests. Refreshments will be served.
The art center is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to noon. For more information call 785-524-3241 or email lincolnartcenter@att.net, visit our Facebook page, or website lincolnartcenter.org.
