Amigos de Fuego

“Amigos de Fuego” (Friends of Fire) is the title of Rick Frisbie’s latest series of paintings. Thirty-six of his colorful paintings on canvas, and additional paintings on paper will be in his solo show at the Lincoln Art Center. The opening reception will be Friday, May 10, 2019, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will be on exhibit through June 29, 2019.

“The inspiration and initiative for the series come from my friends and the people of Guatemala,” Frisbie said.

Rick visited Guatemala twice during the last year.

“The land of volcano fire and poverty is also home to people of passion, color, ingenuity, dancing and determination”.

Frisbie intends to capture some of that vigor in his paintings.

Poet Joe McKenzie will be Rick’s special guest at the opening. Frisbie says he asks Joe to read because of his passion that he exhibits in his poetry and his reading of poetry. He will be reading several of his newest poems and have copies of his recently published book for sale. McKenzie used one of Frisbie’s paintings for the cover of his book. Frisbie & McKenzie are both of Salina.

This exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesday-Friday Noon-4:00 and Saturday 9:00 am to Noon at the Lincoln Art Center, 126 E. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln, Kansas 67455. For more information call the art center at 785-524-3241
