Spirit of Earth & Sky

SPIRIT OF EARTH & SKY is an exhibit of paintings by Angela Muller and hand-built ceramics on found wood by Barbara Stevens. These works be shown at the Lincoln Art Center, 126 E. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln, KS, from May 14-June 30, 2021.

The opening reception is Friday, May 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

ANGELA MULLER found great teachers in cold moons, hawks soaring against the wind, and storms forming on the horizon. A fifth-generation Kansan, her artistic practice reflects a connection to the spirit of wild things as she gathers the elements of nature’s wisdom and stories into her paintings. When she is away from the prairie, Angela feels a visceral disconnection and upon her return, sees this place with a new set of eyes and begins to paint.

BARBARA STEVENS, after visiting Native American museums and sacred sites, became fascinated with the simple forms and craftsmanship of ancient ceramic vessels. Her connection to these craftswomen of 1000 years ago influences the earthy quality of her artistic forms today—simple vessels displayed on found wood, giving the impression that the viewer is discovering ancient treasure.
