Effect of Exposure

The Lincoln Art Center will feature a new exhibit in January and February, entitled “Effect of Exposure.” The exhibit includes selected works by Glen Ediger and David Long, both of North Newton, KS. The opening reception will be Friday, January 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The show will run through February 28, 2025.

Glen Ediger is a designer, inventor, lecturer, and award-winning author and artist. Listed as the inventor on over 130 US Patents and retired as Director of Design at Vornado Air. His unique art form is influenced by nature, and he calls it “environmental exposure.” His philosophy is that everything we do leaves an impression and our actions, intended or not, affect our environment and relationships.

“My art-form is an expression of that effect. It intends to expose both literally and figuratively the effects of our actions, by the creating a patina onto the medium, literally creating an effect on the exposed material.”

David Long is a professor of art at Bethel College. Through teaching, Long has been able to experiment with different styles and find inspiration in academics, historical artifacts, architecture, photography, and his students. His work is made of porcelain clay and is wood-fired in a kiln.

The artists will speak at 6:15 p.m. and visit with guests. Refreshments will be served.
The art center is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to noon. For more information call 785-524-3241 or email lincolnartcenter@att.net, visit our Facebook page, or website lincolnartcenter.org.
